By: Adam Camp, KOB Eyewitness News 4
A man has been charged in the heroin overdose of the son of an Albuquerque anti-heroin activist.
Jennifer Weiss's son, Cameron, overdosed in August 2011. She found him unconscious on his bedroom floor. Cameron Weiss admitted to a heroin addiction in 2010.
One of Cameron's friends who was with him the night before he died told the DEA he knew who dealt the heroin to Cameron. He also picked out of a photo lineup Joseph Dyson, saying he gave the heroin that ultimately killed Weiss.
Dyson was arrested for distributing heroin with death resulting on December 10, 2012. He was also charged with dealing  heroin to someone under the age of 21.
According to the criminal complaint, Dyson was in prison at the same time Cameron Weiss was just a few weeks before he overdosed. Dyson has had several drug distribution and possession convictions in years past.
Jennifer Weiss reacted to the news Saturday afternoon about Dyson being arrested.
"I'm glad that the guy's off the streets and that he's not selling heroin to anyone else that this point in time. And I'm also hoping that he can receive treatment as well," Weiss said.
